Meeting in Ljubljana

The first Quantum Instrument was presented at the Quantum Music meeting in Ljubljana

The third meeting of the Quantum Music project partners was held in Ljubljana from September 9 to 11. The participants were representatives of the Insitute of Musicology SASA, New Art Center (CENU) and Center for the Promotion of Science from Serbia, representatives of Danish School of Performing Arts from Copenhagen and hosts from Kino Šiška, Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The first Quantum Instrument, which will have its premiere during the Keyboard Days Festival in Belgrade in November, was presented at the meeting. The whole construction and production of the Quantum Instrument was performed by the team of engineers from Serbia, lead by professor Dragan Novkovic together with LP Duo as a part of creative team, and supported by Vlatko Vedral, professor of Quantum Physics at the University of Oxford, as well as by the team of quantum physicists from the Center for Quantum Technologies at the National University of Singapore.

LP Duo, pianists Sonja Loncar and Andrija Pavlovic, will use this instrument while performing music composed by Kim Helweg, Danish composer and professor at the Danish National School of Performing Arts.

The Quantum Instrument operates in a way that it tracks the vibration of each specific piano string, inserting this information into laser which provokes the appearance of Bose-Einstein condensate, the state of matter in which the atoms act as a completely specific phenomena.
